Letter Everything

Berlin Letters is a festival for lettering, type design, calligraphy and sign painting: three days of workshops, lectures and hangout for professionals and aficionados.

Berlin Letters is an annual event, but the second edition of the festival could now neither take place in 2020 nor this year. But we’re planning to meet everyone again in 2022, freshly vaccinated!

For years, the design scene had a fixed date in May: TYPO Berlin. When the conference was discontinued in 2018, Nils Töpfer and Claudia Guminski unceremoniously initiated a new meeting place for the typo and design scene: Berlin Letters festival.

They asked me and my colleague and co-author Ulrike Rausch if we wanted to take over the program direction for the new festival – we were happy to do so and took over the graphics department, too.
