Stamp Design on Ice
On my stamp design on the theme »Antarctica—Protecting the Unique Together«, the lettering itself is the iceberg, of which only the proverbial tip can be seen.
I am of course bitterly disappointed that none of my designs won in this design competition. They didn’t even get a placement in the top three! Ts, ts. But oh well, I’ll manage.
If you are curious what the rather classic design that was published as a stamp on this topic looks like, you can have a look at the winning design on the website of the Ministry of Finance.

Two More Stamp Designs
In each design competition, I can submit up to three different designs. I don’t always have three good ideas, but on the theme »Antarctic« I did.

In this design, I’ve sort of quoted myself by taking up the principle of my first published stamp: I fill the format with terms that belong to the theme and design the lettering for the individual words in such a way that their form conveys an idea of the content.
Airy and icy I thought. That’s why this design is based on a lot of white space and simple lines in cool blue. Here, too, the word »Antarctica« itself is the iceberg.

Even More Stamp Designs
How did I come to design stamps and why is a call from the Ministry of Finance a cause for joy for me? I’ve explained this in the presentation of previous stamp designs.
